Would you expect the former chairman of Bush’s Council of Economic Advisors to say nice things about Obama? And this is not the first time.
For some reason, even conservative economists seem to be warm on Obama, or at least not cold. This, plus the Volcker endorsement, is why I just cannot bring myself to dislike the guy, despite my conservative/libertarian instincts.
Obama is clearly listening to Goolsbee whenever it is politically feasible (e.g., not on ethanol). The question is, will he continue to listen should he win the nomination and the Presidency? If so, an Obama administration would simply not be that bad.
He came out against the gas tax gimmick. If he keeps standing up to that type of baloney, he might be a good president.
